Re: Firefox 5.0.1 Is Out
There are no changes in the Windows version of FF 5.0.1 from 5. The 5.0.1 release was for Mac and they posted a Windows version to keep in sync.

override.ini in the Firefox exe directory where the ini contains:
If you have the right tools you can modify the FF MSI to add and deploy the file. If not, you'll need to copy the file over with a script.

Re: Won't stay pinned to Taskbar
Recent versions of the MSI have had a version specific desktop shortcut. Users pin this and it gets removed and replaced with the newer version on upgrade. I think you can work around this by pinning the actual EXE from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe." Not as good as Group Polic...

Re: 5.0 MSI (not community) showing as Minefield
Maybe DraconPern could have a beta period for new releases. Post a notice on the forum for testers to bang away at a new version before posting to the download page. Just a suggestion. Although people deploying FM FF should be testing before deploying to masses of computers. Sometimes I snicker a bi...

Re: Enterprise IT unhappy with Firefox 4's quick demise
Firefox ignoring the Enterprise is the reason FrontMotion Firefox exists. It's especially why FM Community Edition exists. Hopefully enough people use the packager service for DraconPern to maintain enough interest in keeping up with the changes.

Re: Firefox 5.0
If you use Group Policy to distribute FM Firefox and Flash MSIs separately how do you deal with install order? Our rather simple setup uses a single GPO for software distribution. To make sure Firefox gets installed before Flash you'd need multiple GPOs with Firefox installed by the GPO that's proce...

One possibility is something to do with the version of VMware server. We use ESXi here but just a thought.

Re: Acrobat Plugin/Viewing Broken with Firefox 4.0.1.1 MSI
Just a guess but I suspect the 4.0.1.2 update fixes the problem where installing FrontMotion Firefox breaks in-browser PDF viewing but does not actually fix the problem caused by 4.0.1.1. If you run Acrobat manually it should clean up the problems caused by 4.0.1.1 and allow in-browser PDF.

Re: Locate Link Browser
And my basic testing of 3.6.17.1 and 4.0.1.1 both show it does. Thank you. This streamlines my current Firefox deploy routine.DraconPern wrote:should now result in IE is default with no complaints

Re: Locate Link Browser
Great. Thank you. So I tested and found the following in a clean Win XP IE 7 VM: Installing over an old version doesn't work as I expect from your description. C:\Temp>msiexec /i Firefox-3.6.17-en-US.msi /q IE is default no complaints C:\Temp>msiexec /i Firefox-3.6.17.1-en-US.msi /q IE is default bu...

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
Internet Explorer restore during uninstall still isn't working correctly. When deploying 4.0/4.0.1 I still need to remove the RestoreIExplore CustomAction so that IE stays as the default browser and doesn't complain that it is not.

Re: Default Browser (default INSTALLEVEL changed in 3.6.16)
The F_SetDefaultBrowser Level is used to determine whether Firefox is the default during install and never again. See the first post for the semantics. The Firefox 4 MSI has also been configured to disable the default browser check on Firefox launch. To enable the check you'll need to: Do an Adminis...

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
I would do the following and then test install and uninstall to make sure the default browser problem doesn't show. 1. Open the MSI file with Orca. 2. Change the INSTALLLEVEL to 3 (in table "Property"). 3. Remove the following entries from the "CustomAction" table RestoreIExplore 4. Close and Save M...
