5.0 MSI (not community) showing as Minefield

Post by Jimbo » Fri Jun 24, 2011 8:15 am

Just downloaded the MSI for 5.0 and installed it on a test machine, but it is using the Minefield Icon, and Help-->About also shows it as being Minefield.

I've rechecked the download and it is definitely the Standard edition, not Community. It is the British English version - Firefox-5.0-en-GB.msi

Is this an intentional change?

Same with the Firefox-5.0-en-US.msi. I hope this wasn't intentional. My users get very confused by the changing icons!

Whao, definitly not intentional. The packager pulled from the wrong source. Fixing.

I'm seeing the Minefield banner on the About Firefox box. Icons are showing as FrontMotion Firefox though. This is on FMFirefoxCE-5.0-en-US.msi.

Maybe DraconPern could have a beta period for new releases. Post a notice on the forum for testers to bang away at a new version before posting to the download page. Just a suggestion. Although people deploying FM FF should be testing before deploying to masses of computers. Sometimes I snicker a bit at the "I've deployed this broken MSI to a 1000 computers" posts.

Humm.. Perhaps it's an old shortcut? I just double checked and the icons are the firefox default.

I'm testing a deployment of 5.0.1, and the Help > About screen reports that we are on the Nightly release. Is this just an identity issue, or was the Nightly release of 5.0.1 used in the CE build? I don't recall any of the 3.x.x releases having disparate "About" screens.
