Frontmotion FF does not deploy via GP

Post by SPBFIT » Wed Jun 26, 2013 9:50 pm

Hi all,

I am having trouble deploying FF CE v20.0 (or any versions above v10) via GP onto Windows 7 64bit machines.
Deploying to 32bit XP machines seems to be fine, but fails with Windows 7. :cry:

Initially we have FF CE v10.0.2 deployed via GP, years ago... only recently that we decided to jump to v20.0.

We also tried using batch file to deploy the .msi as an alternate option, however it also fails.

batch file:
===================================================================
msiexec /i \\server.local\path\Software\Firefox\20.0.\FMFirefoxCE-20.0.-en
===================================================================
Similarly, we tried older versions - v15.0.1 and it also failed.

Please see below log file deployed with v15.0.1 using the method logging option found on:
http://forums.frontmotion.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1351

check \\server.local\path\Software\Firefox\ and make sure it has "everyone read" permission.

Hi DraconPern,

Forgot to mention... We've tried providing "Full Permission" on the file and folder.

The only other thing we can think of that would of caused the issue is that we have migrated from Win Server 03 to Win Server 08. The v10 was deployed from 03 server and now we are deploying from 08 server - are there any possibility that this is the likely cause?

Thanks,

Failed how? If a batch file fails, you should get an error message in the console window. Or if the MSI is failing, look in Event Viewer first.

One thing you can do is put an invocation of the command processor in your batch file:

Code: Select all

@ECHO OFF
CMD
Then, during computer startup, you'll get a command prompt, running in the context of the computer account. You can then run test commands. For example:

Code: Select all

COPY \\server.local\path\Software\Firefox\15.0.1\FMFirefoxCE-15.0.1-en-GB.msi C:\
That will confirm the computer can access the MSI file and read it properly. If you get an "Access denied" error on that, you know you have a permissions problem.
