Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
You can't use a string comparison to do the snapshot compare. As I detailed in this post the MSI uninstall routine is adding extra NULs to registry keys IE uses to determine if it's the default browser or not. A string comparison will not show this difference in the before and after snapshots. Ahh!...

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
Your method was one of the things I tried: Under Table Properties: Set InstallLevel 3 Under Table CustomAction: Delete Action RestoreIExplore row. However, through experimentation, all the DefaultBrowser registry entries in the MSI were still being applied. Only by deleting those entries out of the ...

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
Here is my convoluted solution. We don't want Firefox to be the default since we need IE to access PKI sites. I know Firefox can be configured to do that but not automatically. IE is much easier to use in that regard. Everytime I update Firefox, it continues to reset Firefox to the default, either o...

Re: Can you please label the version in the MSI better?
I use ORCA. I change the ProductName in the Property table.
Example:
ProductName = Mozilla Firefox (en-US)
changed to:
ProductName = Mozilla Firefox 3.5.2 (en-US)
It helps my life out a lot. So, I guess I would call this a beneficial suggestion to have this standard practice.

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
I have the same problem just like jpa. I'm hoping for a fix soon so I can deploy 3.0.10. The users have tolerated this issue for a long while and I'd like to finally fix it for them.

Re: 3.0.4 is out
I looked at the registry table using ORCA and note that the 3.0.4 MSI doesn't have these 15 entries compared to the 3.0.3 MSI. Are they needed? Re: 3.0.4 is out
Hi. I have a slight problem with the 3.0.4 Mozilla Firefox MSI build, Firefox-3.0.4-en-US.msi. After applying the GPO and rebooting, the MSI installed successfully. However, the desktop shortcut has disappeared. The Quicklaunch shortcut is still there, but has no icon and doesn't work. I have to del...

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
An administrative install is: msiexec /a Firefox-2.0.0.13-en-US.msi This performs an install to a sharepoint with the files extracted. Then I navigate to the firefox.js file on the sharepoint and modify settings. Then create a new GPO to install it. I fought the problem of Firefox wanting to be the ...

Re: Do not make Firefox default browser during installation
This is how I do it. After the adminstrative install, browse to the directory where firefox.js lives which should be under Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref edit firefox.js and change the following: Change: pref("browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser", true); to: pref("browser.shell.checkDefau...
