Re: Configuring pop up settings

Those are for configuring the browser's default settings regarding popups - what kind of events (mouseover, submit, etc.) are allowed to create a popup window, how many popup windows those events can generate, and whether the blocker is supposed to alert the user to popups its blocked. Unless you wa...

Re: Firefox 17.0, ESR 10.0.11, ESR 17.0.0 released 2012NOV20

FF18 is supposed to be out tomorrow, which will be the first version w/o TURKTRUST as a trusted CA, thanks to their flawed certificate distribution (that allowed at least one group to issue certs for *.google.com). Since TURKTRUST is an internal CA there is no mechanism for removing or disallowing i...

Re: Win7 and proxy settings GPO

Actually the domain functional level will stay at whatever the domain functional level is, regardless of how new/old the oldest server is. What older server does is prevent you from raising the functional level, unless you don't mind breaking the older servers. IOW, if you have a domain containing 2...

Re: 16.0.2 and ESR 10.0.10 released 2012OCT26

Yes, they're being released because people took an interest in the sections of code that were responsible for the 10.0.9 & 16.0.1 releases. With increased scrutiny some more bugs were uncovered, hopefully prior to individuals taking advantage of them in the wild. Though now that they've been fixed t...

Re: Firefox corporate rollout

I restrict access through OpenDNS. And block access to proxy/VPN/etc. servers through a variety of methods to prevent individuals getting around those blocks.

Re: Firefox 16.0.1 and ADMX-GPO

If you want to deploy Firefox without any kind of central administration of everyone's settings, the version of Firefox you downloaded is fine. You can deploy it through Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and it'll be on everyone's desktop to use as they see fit. But if you want to deploy Firefox through a...

Re: Unlock Proxy Settings

Create a 2nd GPO that just applies to them with the settings unlocked? Then disable that 2nd GPO when you want new settings to be pushed out to them.

Its an idea at least.

Re: add menu bar on install

If enabling the menu bar can be enabled through use of about:config, then there should be a GP setting for it. If it's not in about:config then you won't be able to configure it through GP. You may want to try creating an administrative install, then modify the default user so it will configure all ...

Looks like the ESR was found vulnerable to a related bug though. So long 10.0.8, I hardly knew ye.

Re: Google custom search feature in 13.0.1

(scratches head) Not to be a dick, but didn't you find it in testing before pushing it out to desktops? I think this would be a good impetus to re-examine your rollout procedures so you can catch flaws before they hit all user desktops. Otherwise you will be burned by something more serious than a G...

Re: mozilla.adm can not find Category "Default Settings"

I converted the ADM into an ADMX file using FullArmor's (free) ADMX Migrator tool and figured it was a casualty of that conversion, but I'm not sure what, if any, settings are missing. Everything I've wanted to set has been present under Locked Settings. I guess Default Settings would configure the ...

Re: Mozilla yanks Firefox 16 for security problems

16.0.1 was just released, includes a fix for the flaw.

Haven't seen whether the ESR release was affected by this bug.

Edit: It looks like ESR was spared this bug. Hooray for ESR!

Re: Update Frontmotion and save bookmarks

If you're installing FMFirefox 3.6.28 you should be able to upgrade in place. If you're talking about a generic Firefox MSI you created yourself, because Mozilla doesn't distribute an MSI, this probably isn't the right forum to be asking for help on it, but... I would expect that if you added the Fi...

Re: Disabling Plug-Ins (specifically java) via Group Policy

For what it's worth, Java 7 Update 7 and Java 6 Update 35 have been released today, which fix the currently-published exploits. I don't see anything in about:config to disable plugins in Firefox (you can just disable sandboxing of plugins using dom.ipc. entries), though if you roll in QuickJava you ...
