MSI Installing on XP, but not Windows 7

Post by tydirt06 » Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:05 am

I'm trying to deploy the Firefox-7.0.1-en-US.msi via Windows Group Policy. It will successfully install at startup for any Windows XP machine that I throw it at. It will not, however, install for any Windows 7 machine that I try. Any ideas?

I just deployed it on a couple labs of Windows 7 machines, so it's installing fine over here. I did do it as an upgrade over a 6.0.2 install, though I'll find out if it installs fresh after I roll out the last 6 new systems tomorrow (gulp).

I'd check permissions on your share, at the very least try running gpresult /h c:\result.htm and see what's in result.htm. If it's not obvious, compare the results between XP & 7.

gpresult /r show the same results for both XP and 7 machines. Share and NTFS permissions are fine. I don't have any filtering setup on the GPO.

I'd check the event log on the Windows 7 machines for clues.
