Group Policies not applying to FF 8.x & 9.x

Post by sean.marmot » Fri Feb 03, 2012 6:23 pm

We've been trying to catch up on Firefox versions, and we ran into a bit of trouble applying group policies.

We push Group Policies from a domain controller, and we've had some policies in place for older versions of Firefox. After upgrading to version 9.0.1, we found none of our settings were being applied. We updated our GP templates at that point, but without effect.

On a test machine, we removed FF 9.0.1, and installed FF 8.0.1. No dice.
We then tried FF 7.0.1, and the same Group Policies started working.

We were running a gpupdate on every test. Running a gpresult also came back good.

Couldn't find any solution searching here or on Google. Anyone have an idea?

Nevermind....

We had the wrong msi downloaded. I think my co-worker grabbed the Mozilla Firefox msi, rather than the Frontmotion CE edition.

On a side note, you might stick with 8.0.1 for a bit. 9.0.1 has issues with self-signed certs, and when clicking on an RSS feed, it will not be imported correctly.

This hasn't happened to me on all machines, but a vast majority. Out of 250 machines, I'd say 90 percent of them. 7.0.1 is fine also.
