Security-Updates for 10 ESR?

Hi folks,
I deploy FM10.0.0.2ESR (de), but I see that Updates not activated. This is not what I want, its ok that client Firefox's load there security Updates automaticly (10.0.3 and so on) if they don't need Admin rights. Because ESR use the different update Chanel ESR there is no risk that FF will update 10->11.

If I use ORCA to modify .msi, can I activate the Updates? Where? If not - there are no Updates for FM's ESR Installations for one Year ??
Is it possible to activate "security"- updates ( .x.x) but not major releases? (X. . )

thanks,
Poe

Firefox can only update itself without admin if it is installed in the user's profile instead of program files. Updates are disabled by default so you can control which updates are deployed and when. I evaluate the update for a week on my test environment then just deploy the update with AD to all machines.

If you enable channel updates you will update to the channel release. However since you're not talking about a channel release, you're talking about a custom build, it's possible that the channel release update won't apply properly to the custom build, yielding an unholy partially-patched monster.

If you want to roll updates out via Active Directory, you should roll updates out through Active Directory... new update comes out, the desktop/laptop gets it pushed out to them through AD, and they're along their merry way. Otherwise you would need to make every user an administrator so they could update FF, or at least kluge access rights on the FF directory, which means malware could kluge the FF directory, and we know where that leads.

Oh yes, ofcourse.. It was my mistaken opinion that only major relase Updates need admin rights.....
Unfortunately - as a result of this I need the same numbers of FF rollouts per year. :?

I'm intending on using 10.0.x ESR, which means 4 (3?) updates each year, and won't have to worry about profile corruption that can happen with major release upgrades... not until the next ESR comes out (FF 16? 18? Somewhere around there).

Of course with 10.0.3 ESR out now, I'm hoping to roll that out instead of 10.0.2 ESR, and avoid one more install.

On the plus side the AD upgrades mean you don't have every desktop's Firefox checking for updates every so many hours, creating unnecessary network chatter / internet connection usage. If you're behind a slow internet connection, every little bit helps, esp. when it comes to update checks (& subsequent automatic downloads).
