Upgrading Firefox on Win 7

Post by GabeNYC » Thu Mar 29, 2012 8:28 am

I have noticed that deploying FF via GPO on windows xp, it will upgrade to the deployed version. On the other hand on windows 7 this is not the case and it will only deploy the GPO version in the absence of FF. Any thoughts on why this is happening and to get windows 7 to upgrade to the GPO version of FF. I am usually dealing with 3.6 to 10.0.2esr.

Thanks,

Gabriel

I'd check the EventLogs for the Firefox install and see if there's anything obvious. You could also manually install the MSI on one of the affected machines and see if it throws any errors.

When removing the previous version of FF from GP, it asks you if you want to remove it or let users continue using it. I myself allow users to continue using it. I have no problems with the upgrades on any version of Windows. Maybe you should choose to remove it.
