Introduced with an update around the November Windows10 update, MS now checks for "malware" having "corrupted" registry entries to do things like setting default apps. In other words, the old way that many apps, including FF CE used, don't work. And, MS now helpfully will reset, if the default wasn't set the way MS wants you to set it, back to the initial default. So, I see when I login that Edge grabs back HTML files (and PDF, as it so happens as well).
So, looks like you need to figure out how MS now wants you to set the Windows10 app defaults and do it... that way.
Thanks.
ps one can do a registry hack to stop Windows apps from grabbing back the default, but, well, it's a hack that MS will prolly break at some point.

Re: Default app method and Windows10
We basically use this method. We don't set Firefox as default browser, but might point you in right direction.

We do set Adobe Reader and Chrome as default using this method, so surely someone has done Firefox. We use GPO, but you can also use local policy, maybe.
