Error with GPO Deployment

Post by TheSurf » Tue Feb 20, 2007 12:55 pm

Hi,

i'm trying to deploy the firefox with gpo.
I have placed the install file in hostdrive\ClientApps\FMFirefoxCA-2.0.0.1-de.msi" and set the file to be read by domainusers.

Then I went on to the Add Software to Computer. I added Firefox to the list of application with "\\HOSTNAME\ClientApps\FMFirefoxCA-2.0.0.1-de.msi".

Then I tryed to log on to the Test Maschine (Windows XP) fresh clean install.
There is now a Icon in the Desktop "Klicken Sie hier, um Firefox zu installieren". When I click on that Icon an error came up with The Command \\HOSTNAME\ClientApps\FMFirefoxCA-2.0.0.1-de.msi" was no run. Check Servername, Path...

I entered the path to at the workspace and the installer started up. I'm totaly lost. Where is my error?

So long Alexander

Did you create a transform or modified the MSI to change the "IAgree" property to "Yes" ?
If you don't do that it will fail since it will be waiting for user input, but during the startup no user interaction is possible (silent install).

You might also want to change the "INSTALLLEVEL" property to 3 (default 5) if you want to avoid it taking over as the default browser.
