Check for updates disabled

Post by rweir » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:13 pm

When using your MSI installer for FireFox 3 and 3.0.1 I notice that the Check for updates function is grayed out and can't be used. Is there a reason that this is disabled in your MSI package? thanks...

Hum... I need to look in that. The old thinking was that the update would overwrite the MSI managed files.

Is there a way to change that in your MSI? After installing when looking in the About:Config is shows that entry as locked so I can't change it on my machine. thanks..

Definitely ran into this as a problem here as well. Any solutions I can deploy to fix this around my organization?

Make your own .msi to get around this problem and other goofy settings:

You can now push out the setting to enable and it will override the default.
