Default browser, search needs tweaking

Hey all,

I'I've somehow upset Firefox as the default browser and everything opens in IE, hitting make default does not work and if I fire up Add / Remove Programs then Set program Access and Defaults Frontmotion firefox isn't in the list of browsers.

Can anyone help, scenario is Frontmotion Firefox CE, running as a non-admin account (for security and because I'm troubleshooting this for a non-tech user)

I did try searching the forum but it told me the following words were too common: firefox default browser :(

I'm having the same problem. I updated from 3.0.3 to 3.0.6 and now all of the systems are defaulting to IE.

Same here. The default browser setting doesn't stick. It isn't on all installations though, and I can't determine why. I've had to manually edit the file type setting so that the system uses Firefox instead of IE, but this isn't feasible on a large deployment.

I'm seeing it on more and more of my installations :(

Hopefully 3.0.7 will have some sort of fix? Please?

Is this problem on XP or Vista?

Alright I found the cause of the problem. The packager version is slighty different from the from the working normal version (not yet posted). So for now, I have moved that back. The only thing you i'll loose is branding within the program, just like 3.0.3. Hit the rebuild for your packages to get the update.

Hooray, thanks DraconPern, so this will take effect when 3.0.7 is available?

FWIW,

we were recently updating from a 2.x version to 3.0.6 via GPO on Win2k and WinXP machines with the result that the default browser was reset to IE. However, there was an error in that setting as the registry keys referred to a non-existant C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE while the correct path would have been C:\Programme\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE. As a result, the systems were left with no working default browser at all :-(
After modifying the MSI to an INSTALLLEVEL of >= 4, it still didn't work and curiously, when manuyll opening the MSI and choosing "Modify", the default browser feature was set to "Installed on first use", which doesn't really make sense for just a set of registry settings.
Anyway, 3.0.7 fixes the problem and our users are able to open shortcuts again :-)

Cheers,
malte

Please note that there's a default browser issue with 3.0.7 that is on the site right now! It is not able to set firefox as default when the user asks for it. This also effects the 'Set Program Access and Default'. I am regenerating the packages as we speak and will get those up as soon as possible. For the packager service, you can simply rebuild to get the new version.

Is the 3.0.7 CE on the site now the updated one?

I'd like to push this out to my users as most of them ended up running IE out of, well, stupidity since the default browser changed to that when I rolled out 3.0.6.

I've fixed a bunch of their default browsers by hand but I'd rather just mash out an update that does it for everyone.
